MMI and SCADA Systems Developement

In years gone by, machine operators interfaced with their machines using rudimentary dials, levers, switches, and lights. Process information required by management was recorded by manually going out to the machine, reading the analog dials, and writing them down on paper. Advances in control technology have provided the machine operators and management the tools needed for efficient process monitoring and control. Today, we have Man-Machine Interfaces (MMIs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems that utilize keypads, illuminated screens, data storage devices, and networks to eliminate much of the operator intervention and legwork previously involved.

A few of the key advantages of today's MMI and SCADA systems are:

  • Require less physical space by utilizing advanced Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
  • High reliability
  • Secure data storage
  • Display control data via illuminated screens at the machine and on remote monitors
  • Allow management to view and control process parameters from their offices

Advanced Automation has been providing PC based MMIs and SCADA systems for years. We use industry-standard tools such as Intellution FIX MMI, Microsoft QuickBasic, Microsoft Visual Basic, and Microsoft Access to develop customized, user-friendly, efficient, reliable, and expandable systems. Some of the key features that our systems provide are user-friendly display screens, real-time and historical trending, SPC/SQC, alarming functions, user-based control security, and supervisory control of process parameters. Your MMI or SCADA package can be as simple or complex as you need. The package can be designed with simple text screens or advanced graphical screens with pictorials of the actual process machinery and status. We will customize the package to meet your needs.
